The JoeAngel Series
This art was recently described as "Decapitated men nailed to boards..." Oh dear. For me the JoeAngels are Angels filled with hope. Nailed as a way of grounding their ephemeral selves for just a moment in time to the human plane, that plane of existence that is both joyous and painful. They do have heads...figurative ones--a swirl, a disk...because looking at the face of angels must be too much to take, we'd go mad wouldn't we? They are messengers of hope...we are broken and we emerge stronger, wiser, and more compassionate than we were before. And when you look at them they are what you see.
